Eight short answers to the questions clients ask us before they sign an engagement letter.01 Where are you and how do we work together?
The studio is in Helsinki — Topparikuja 1, in the Lauttasaari district. Most engagements are run remotely on calls and shared documents; we hold one in-person kickoff in Helsinki for every Voice and Residency engagement, and clients fly in or we travel out as the budget allows. We work in English by default; Finnish and Swedish on request.
02 What kinds of writing do you actually do?
Brand voice systems, long-form web copy, landing pages, founder essays, manifestos, naming, taglines, investor narratives, email sequences, editorial calendars, and the occasional considered piece of print. We do not do social-media content at volume, paid-acquisition copy, technical documentation, or SEO content factories. We refer all of those to studios we trust.
03 Do you write in Finnish?
For Finnish-language engagements we work with two senior Finnish-language editors we have used for six years; the studio leads the brief and the voice, the Finnish editor produces the final text. The same arrangement applies to Swedish engagements. English is written in the studio.
04 How do you handle revisions and rounds?
Every engagement is priced for one full round of revision after the first draft, with a second round held if real new information arrives between the first round and the second. Beyond the second round the engagement is converted to hourly time at the published rate. This is in the engagement letter; nobody is surprised.
05 How are payments structured?
The Quill is paid in full at kickoff. The Voice and the Residency are paid in two tranches — fifty percent at kickoff and fifty percent on the engagement-letter close-out date — by Stripe Checkout or by SEPA bank transfer to a Finnish IBAN. Finnish VAT (currently 25.5%) applies; EU B2B clients have VAT reverse-charged.
06 Do you sign NDAs?
Yes. Send us yours or we will send you ours; either way we sign before the first paid discovery call. The studio has signed roughly fifty NDAs since 2019 and has never been asked to provide a reference that violated one.
07 Can you write for a brand whose voice is already strong?
Often this is the work we do best — extending a voice that already exists rather than writing one from blank. The Quill engagement is set up for exactly this. Send us the existing materials and we will tell you within two working days whether the extension is something we can do well.
08 Who owns the writing at the end?
You. Every word we write on a paid engagement transfers to you on receipt of final payment. The studio retains the right to mention the engagement in our own portfolio with your written approval; we do not include client writing in the portfolio without that approval.
